Under the direct supervision of the Response Services Manager, the Crisis Response Advocate answers WEAVE’s 24-hour Support and Information Line and provides crisis response including:

  • Crisis intervention advocacy and counseling to victims and or their significant others at hospital
  • Screenings of clients requesting emergency shelter
  • Accompaniment to hospital, law enforcement or Social Service appointments
  • Education, referrals and follow-up services to American Indian/Alaskan Native victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, and sex trafficking with the goal of reducing trauma
  • Provides danger assessment and safety planning for crisis line callers
  • Enters all call data into database and Dispatches SART Advocates
  • Provide follow up phone call to victim within 72 hours of their exams
  • Maintain accurate records into database in a timely manner
  • Provides follow-up case management services to victims as assigned
  • Provides medical exam accompaniment for incarcerated victims of sexual abuse
  • Provides in-person counseling for up to 8 sessions to incarcerated survivors of sexual abuse, as assigned
  • In addition to regular work hour, mandatory “Standby/On-call” shifts required
  • Bilingual/Bicultural Individual preferred.
  • Experience working with the American Indian/Alaskan Native community
  • Attends mandatory program and staff meetings.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree and 2-5 years’ experience or any combination of education and experience to meet job requirements
  • Experience with domestic violence, sexual assault and/or human trafficking services preferred 
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal
  • Excellent crisis intervention, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills 
  • Bilingual/bicultural individual preferred 
  • Computer literate: Microsoft Word 
  • Complete WEAVE’s 70-hour classroom peer counselor training (post-hiring requirement) and attend amount of required continuing education to maintain certification 
  • Provide copy of valid California driver license, have reliable transportation, and submit current proof vehicle insurance 
  • Satisfactory results from DOJ background check, post job offer.
  • Other tasks as assigned
