All Genders. All People. All Relationships.
Pride Month is both a celebration and a reminder of the work still ahead. At WEAVE, we are committed to ensuring that LGBTQ+ survivors feel seen, supported, and safe when seeking help. Everyone deserves access to services that affirm their identity and experiences.
Last year, 5% of the survivors WEAVE served self-disclosed that they identify with an identity other than heterosexual/straight. We know that we still have much work to do to ensure that everyone in the LGBTQ+ community knows that WEAVE is a welcoming space to seek safety and healing.
LGBTQ+ individuals experience domestic and sexual violence at disproportionately high rates. Lesbian, gay, and bisexual individuals face significantly higher rates of violent victimization than their heterosexual peers, and transgender individuals experience even greater risk. Many report experiencing intimate partner violence at equal or higher rates than the general population, with nearly half of transgender individuals experiencing sexual violence in their lifetime.
Despite these realities, LGBTQ+ survivors often encounter additional barriers to support, including stigma, discrimination, and a lack of inclusive services. At WEAVE, we are committed to breaking down those barriers and ensuring that our services reflect who we serve: all relationships, all genders, all ages, all people, all the time.
