Cake4Kids Sacramento
Ensuring Every Child is Celebrated

Event

Cake4Kids has been providing cakes for children throughout the Sacramento region since 2018. The local chapter partners with nonprofits serving children and youth (ages 1-24) who are at-risk or underserved, including youth in foster care, homeless shelters, and domestic violence shelters like WEAVE’s Safehouse. Every cake or treat is unique to the child and reflects the child’s favorite flavors, colors, and themes. While it may not be ideal to celebrate a birthday in a shelter or foster home, Cake4Kids ensures that every child is celebrated on their special day. Volunteer bakers provide all of the supplies and deliver a bakery quality decorated cake or dessert of the child’s choice.

“WEAVE is deeply appreciative of Cake4Kids and all of the volunteer bakers who contribute. At least once a month we have a child celebrating a birthday at our Safehouse. These kids do not have the option of inviting friends over for a party or sleepover so we have to be creative. Cake4Kids is our partner in ensuring every child is celebrated” shares WEAVE CEO, Beth Hassett.

About Cake4Kids: Cake4Kids was founded in 2010 by Libby Gruender in Sunnyvale, CA with a goal of providing birthday cakes to foster children and at-risk youth in the Bay Area. Libby enlisted a few friends who collectively donated 13 cakes in the initial year. Today, Cake4Kids remains a grassroots network of volunteer bakers who donate thousands of cakes across the country each year. To learn more about Cake4Kids, go to https://www.cake4kids.org/.
