17 Ways To Shop. Save. Support. WEAVE

Pod
You know the 3 R’s: Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. Ideals that guide the spirit of second-hand, vintage, and consignment store shopping. We’ve added a few more R’s to inspire small actions, new mindsets, and charity-minded living.

#1 Reduce.
As in the amount of machine washing and drying. Save energy (especially during the summer months) and extend the life of your clothing with fewer spin cycles.

#2 Reuse.
Do you have a quarantine outfit on repeat? Us too. Check out the #30Wears movement on social media for a new way of blending individual style and sustainable practices for our eventual return to dress up and daily workwear.

#3 Recycle.
Give new life to your wardrobe and help survivors rebuild theirs. Your donations help survivors dress for success as they work toward a thriving and self-supported life. Approximately 80% of the domestic violence clients that enter the WEAVE safehouse do so with only the clothing on their backs.

#4 Repurpose.
Aim to think differently about your worn clothing and accessories. Visit Pinterest for inspiration and ideas for upcycled clothing.

#5 Rethink fast fashion.
Reimagine a curated wardrobe of well-made investment pieces blended with eclectic, vintage statement items sourced from second-hand stores.

#6 Repair.
Dig out your old sewing machine or search YouTube videos for DIY instructions on how to repair your shoes and clothing before deciding to part ways.

#7 Rent your style.
Reset your retailing habits and test other shopping models like online resale marketplaces thredUp or Poshmark and clothing retail service Le Tote.

#8 Reward yourself.
When you visit one of our stores, sign up for the WEAVE Fivestar Rewards Program to earn customer loyalty points and receive text messages about our sales and special events.

#9 Reclaim your closets! Reject the clutter!
Tackle a room and safe the gems for WEAVE. We accept donations of gently used women’s, men’s, and children’s clothing, shoes, and accessories. To ensure the safety of our donors and staff, we are limiting donations hours until we can be fully up to speed after the pandemic.

Donations are accepted by appointment only at our WEAVEWorks store located at 2401 Arden Way. Please call 916-643-4606 to find out availability and schedule an appointment.

#10 Remember.
Don’t forget, you can’t take just anything to a thrift store. We are unable to sell items that are stained, torn, or heavily worn.

#11 Recommend.
Let your friends and family know where you find all your favorite fashion pieces by telling them about WEAVE’s thrift stores and leaving reviews on Facebook, Google, and Yelp!

#12 Redirect.
Help raise funds by redirecting a portion of your eBay sales and purchases to WEAVE with the eBay for Charity program. Shoppers can give to enrolled charities at checkout, buy items that benefit charity, or choose symbolic gifts that give back. Sellers can earmark 10 – 100% of their items’ selling price to benefit a chosen charity – and eBay waives the same percentage in fees.

#13 Review resources.
Recycled fashion offers an affordable way to stay in style and on budget. Eco-minded and budget-conscious families can stretch resources and pay it forward by giving new life to gently used children’s, men’s, and women’s outfits.

#14 Recognize, Respond, & Refer
WEAVE encourages our community to take ACTION against domestic violence, sexual assault, and sex trafficking. This includes when you suspect a friend, family member, or co-worker is experiencing domestic violence or has experienced sexual violence.

#15 Respect.
In this unprecedented time of need, show your emotional and financial support by making a gift and honoring the organization that transforms all who cross its threshold – survivors, volunteers, employees, and leaders.

#16 Reshare.
Help us reach more people – reshare our social posts to your feeds and followers to help spread this news today, tomorrow, and beyond. Follow @WEAVEWorks on Facebook and Instagram and @WEAVEInc on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

#17 Register.
Stay up to date about what’s happening at WEAVE beyond the thrift stores by subscribing to the agency’s newsletter.

100% of proceeds from the sales at all WEAVE’s store locations go directly to WEAVE’s programs and services to support survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and sex trafficking so they can regain their independence to have a safe and healthy future for them and their children.
