Unsung Heroes of WEAVE
Bailey Snow of BrickDreams

News release

Bailey Snow is a 17 year old senior at Granite Bay High School. At the young age of fifteen, Bailey Snow recognized injustice in his community. Instead of letting the injustice continue, he sought solutions and took action. Not only did he come up with a solution, he created an organization from the ground up. Bailey created BrickDreams to collect, clean, and redistribute LEGO bricks to children in need.

Bailey approached WEAVE with his idea about donating LEGO bricks to children in WEAVE’s domestic violence and sexual assault counseling and Safehouse programs in 2012. WEAVE immediately jumped on the opportunity as these bricks can be therapeutic for young children. When talking about the trauma they have experienced, children often are more open to talking when they have something to touch and with which to play.

WEAVE was lucky enough to be the first recipient of Bailey’s LEGO donations. Since this initial donation, Bailey has expanded his reach to several other organizations, including: Boys & Girls Club of Placer County, Auburn Police Department, Roseville Police Department, Rocklin Police Department, KidsFirst, Placer County Sheriff’s Department, Placer County Multi-Disciplinary Interview Center, Placer County District Attorney’s Office, Stand Up Placer, St. John’s Women and Children’s Shelter. His idea has impacted hundreds of children. To date, Bailey’s organization has donated over 600 pounds of LEGO bricks to children in need throughout the community.

Bailey has received multiple awards since the inception of BrickDreams. BrickDreams was one of only 14 national recipients of USA Today’s Make A Difference Day awards. Bailey was also selected as one of six 2014 Molina Community Champions.

Bailey will be graduating from high school soon, so he has passed the BrickDreams torch to his 12 year old sister, Maya Snow, and mother, Nina Snow. This family of philanthropists has made an incredible impact on our community, and we are so grateful for these unsung heroes.
