Position Summary

Full time, employer paid benefits-​ The Support and Information Line Specialist supports the department by providing coverage for WEAVE’s 24-hour Support and Information Line, providing coverage for WEAVE’s business line, assesses and routes calls to appropriate internal departments, assisting with the maintenance of the referral information, entry of accurate data collection from calls, and supporting front office duties.Under the direct supervision of the Intervention Services Manager,

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

24-hour Support and Information Line

  • Provides information about WEAVE services and other appropriate referrals to callers.
  • Answers phone calls from both the 24 hour Support Line and the business office line.
  • Intake and assesses call before routing to appropriate internal department or advocate.
  • Answers calls from backlines and community partners, dispatches advocate as necessary.
  • Provide intake and crisis intervention counseling via telephone.
  • Provide danger assessment and safety planning for crisis line callers.
  • Identify and report cases of suspected child and elder abuse to the appropriate authorities.
  • Provide accurate summary and data entry information of all calls and services requested.

Other Responsibilities/Duties

  • Assist in the maintenance of current community resource referral list
  • Supports new volunteers and staff in crisis intervention techniques and other topics related to domestic violence and sexual assault
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of WEAVE programs to better serve survivors.
  • Model appropriate intervention techniques for volunteers
  • Provide support and assistance on staff projects
  • Represent and fulfill WEAVE’s mission to build a community that does not tolerate sexual assault, domestic violence and sex trafficking and provides survivors with the support they need to be safe and thrive
  • Other tasks as assigned

ADA Job Characteristics:

Work environment is primarily in an office/call center setting.  Lift and carry 25 lbs., extend both arms above the head and/or reach below the waist, stoop, squat, crawl, bend the back to open lower-level filing drawers, or to retrieve stored items, climb a ladder or stairs, or use an elevator.  Sit frequently.  Use fine manipulation (hands and wrist) to operate a keyboard, take notes, complete and file reports, file and copy documents.  Corrected vision to normal range.  Speak in normal vocal tone and range, and communicate clearly and concisely to and with others.  Apply above average reasoning and detail as required in the accomplishment of job duties.  

Minimum Qualifications:

  • AA degree and 2 years experience or 5 years of experience or any combination of education and experience to meet job requirements. 
  • Experience with domestic violence and sexual assault services preferred
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal
  • Excellent crisis intervention, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Bilingual (Spanish) communication helpful but not required
  • Computer literate: Microsoft Word, data entry
  • Complete WEAVE’s 69-hour classroom training counselor certification program (post-hiring requirement) and attend amount of required in-services to maintain certification
  • Provide copy of valid California driver license, have reliable transportation, and submit current proof vehicle insurance
  • Satisfactory results from DOJ background check.
