Support Line Advocate
Full-Time Non-Exempt, Benefit Eligible

Position Summary: The Support Line Advocate provides coverage for WEAVE’s 24-hour Support and Information Line (SL), provides callers with emotional support, crisis intervention, safety planning, and offers referrals to internal or external resources as needed. In addition, the Support Line Advocate provides support and back-up to the Safehouse staffby creating welcoming, respectful, and trauma informed environment at WEAVE’s residential facilities including client services, emotional support, transportation, crisis intervention, and facility duties when needed.


Essential Functions:


Support and Information Line


  • Provide crisis intervention counseling, advocacy, information and referrals to individuals calling WEAVE’s 24-hour Support Line and online chat
  • Maintain accurate client records complete data entry in a timely manner using WEAVE’ s client database.
  • Provide information about WEAVE services and other appropriate referrals to callers and chat users.
  • Provide triage and crisis intervention counseling via telephone.
  • Provide danger assessment and safety planning for crisis line callers.
  • Conduct screenings of clients requesting emergency shelter and case management services
  • Respond in a timely manner to the message board submissions from WEAVE website when assigned.
  • Assess caller and chat user’s crisis and refer to appropriate external resources if WEAVE services are not applicable to caller’s needs.
  • Complete required Support Line and relevant training to stay current on best practices and resources available, as needed or required.


Client Support Services


  • Be available to provide support to residential clients’ immediate needs such as emergency food, supplies, and emotional support, when needed.
  • Provide emergency transportation to WEAVE’s Residential clients as needed following safety and confidentiality protocols.



Facilities Support Services

  • Maintains a professional and courteous manner with all management, staff, clients, vendors, building tenants and contractors.
  • Maintain facility safety following safety policies and procedures and by notifying supervisor of any potential hazards.
  • Perform housekeeping tasks such as: stocking and restocking facility supplies as needed. Execute tasks and cleaning projects to maintain a clean and organized space in the safehouse’s business office.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Combination of education and experience related to the job description.
  • Experience working with clients in a client-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally response way who have experienced domestic and or sexual violence in residential services preferred.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and be sensitive to the needs and situations of survivors of

domestic and sexual violence.

  • Ability to maintain professional and healthy boundaries between clients and staff.
  • Provide copy of valid California driver license, have reliable transportation, and submit current proof of vehicle insurance.
  • Crisis intervention, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, overnights and holidays, as needed.
  • Complete WEAVE’s (69 hour) Peer Counselor Training classroom training and counselor certification program and maintain certification (required after being hired).

The salary range for this position starts at $22.40 per hour.
