Salary Range: $22.40-$26.34 per hour depending on experience.

Position Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Violence Response Manager and the Director of Community Response, the SART Advocate is responsible for providing survivor centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive support to survivors of sexual assault. As Sacramento County’s sole Rape Crisis Center, WEAVE’s SART Advocate is the primary Advocate for accompanying survivors of sexual assault during their medical forensic exam during business hours, as well ensuring 24/7 accompaniment coverage by working closely with WEAVE’s On-Call SART team. The SART Advocate will assist the Violence Response Manager with training and coordinating the On-Call SART Advocate team, including co-facilitating evening team meetings.

 

Essential Functions:

 

Direct Services

  • Serve as primary Sexual Assault Response Advocate during business hours.
  • Accompany survivors of sexual assault during their medical forensic exam, including incarcerated victims of sexual abuse.
  • Ensure 24/7 dispatch coverage by working with and scheduling the On-Call SART team.
  • Co-facilitate monthly meetings for On-Call Advocates after hours.
  • Assist in training and coordination of the On-Call SART Advocate team and volunteers.
  • Utilize a Strengths Model case management approach to assist clients in obtaining self-identified goals and overcome barriers. 
  • Conduct warm hand-offs to internal and external referrals.
  •    Advocate for clients with outside agencies (medical, social services, etc.)
  • Provide accompaniment to clients who wish to report their assault to law enforcement.
  • Coordinate law enforcement and district attorney interviews with the Violence Response Team when requested.
  • Maintain an adequate supply of intake forms, resource packets, food, and clothing items at Sutter’s BEAR Clinic.
  • Present to the community and community partners regarding WEAVE services and issues relevant to sexual assault.

 

Other Responsibilities:

  • Complete all necessary data entry, forms, case records, and statistical reports accurately and timely. 
  • Submit reports and documentation on time.
  • Fulfill contract obligations and requirements.
  • Assist in the development of presentation/training curriculum when needed 
  • Attend and actively contribute to regular supervisory and team/unit meetings, internal training sessions and meetings, conferences, seminars, and independent study. 
  • Adhere to professional standards and initiate requests for assistance from Supervisor to address any issues or complex concepts.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Combination of education and experience to successfully fulfill position requirements, lived experience appreciated. 
  • Experience with crisis intervention around domestic and sexual violence and sex trafficking preferred.
  • Must be able to work some evenings every month.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with community partners and social service agencies.
  • Skills to communicate effectively with management, coworkers, and clients.
  • Must be comfortable advocating for survivors with individuals who work in positions of authority such as law enforcement, medical and mental health teams, etc.
  • Must be able to advise and work cooperatively with coworkers, partners, and service providers.
  • Ability to work independently, effectively manage time, and multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to read, understand and follow through on verbal and written directions
  • Ability to reliably meet required work schedule and adhere to the company attendance policy
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and data entry.
  • Consistent demonstration of positive, cooperative, self-motivated, and professional behavior
  • Work with individuals with different areas of expertise, backgrounds, knowledge, and skillsets.
  • Ability to be a team player and commit to working together to reach goals
  • Complete WEAVE’s 69-hour training and certification program (post-hiring requirement)
  • Provide a copy of a valid California driver’s license, have reliable transportation, and submit current proof of vehicle insurance
  • Satisfactory results from DOJ background check and TB Test (post-employment offer requirement)

Work environment is a busy office setting in a two-story building with stairs and an elevator.  May need to lift and carry 25 lbs., extend both arms above the head and/or reach below the waist, stoop, squat, crawl, bend the back to retrieve items, climb stairs, or use an elevator. Employee may also need to remain in one position (i.e. sitting or standing) for an extended period of time while completing work tasks. Must be able to efficiently operate a keyboard and mouse or adaptive equivalent, take notes; utilize desk tools such as phones or calculators, and utilize larger office equipment such as printers and copy machines.  Communicate clearly and concisely to others.  Apply above average reasoning and detail as required in the accomplishment of job duties.
