Counselor
Full-time, Combination of day/evening hours and multiple locations.

Position Summary: Under the general supervision of the Counseling Services Manager and Director Of Counseling and Outreach, the Counselor will provide direct services to children and adults at the Safehouse, WEAVE Counseling Center and at selected sites.

Responsibilities:                                                                                                

Direct Client Services:

  • Provide individual and group counseling for adults/children/youth
  • Maintain accurate and complete client files
  • Identify, assess and report cases of suspected child abuse/neglect to Child Protective Services
  • Advocate for the concerns of clients with their support systems, schools, the legal system, social service agencies and other helping professionals
  • Foster problem-solving, conflict resolution and non-violent interactive skills among parents and children

Other Responsibilities:

  • Attend and participate in agency meetings and committees
  • Attend and participate in weekly clinical supervision
  • Maintain accurate timesheets and other work-related documentation in a timely manner
  • Represent the agency in community speaking engagements and networking opportunities, as assigned

Qualifications:

  • MFT or MSW, with current BBS registration
  • Two years counseling experience working with adults and youth of various ages and backgrounds preferred
  • Experience working with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault preferred
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Bilingual/bicultural individual preferred
  • Complete WEAVE’s 68-hour classroom training and counselor certification program (post-hiring requirement)
  • Provide copy of valid California driver license, have reliable transportation, and submit current proof of vehicle insurance
  • Satisfactory results from DOJ background check and TB Test (post employment offer requirement)
