Position Summary

This full time, non-exempt position reports to the Prevention & Education Manager under the oversight of the Chief Program Officer of Counseling & Outreach. The Consolidated Youth Project Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and facilitating prevention education programs at project elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools. The position is responsible for the planning and implementation of school engagement and education, including K-12 students, staff, parents/caregivers, and community members. The Coordinator is responsible for collaborating with Sacramento City Unified School District and community partners to provide prevention education and intervention services to students and parents/caregivers. The Coordinator will conduct presentations, trainings and outreach to a variety of audiences with a goal of preventing domestic and sexual violence, with an emphasis on sex trafficking prevention education.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the implementation of the Consolidated Youth program goals and objectives
  • Build relationships with Sacramento City Unified School District, targeted schools, and community partners
  • Maintain effective working relationships with school district and project partners
  • Facilitate youth programs in collaboration with the Consolidated Youth Project Educator and community partners
  • Provide presentations, trainings, and outreach on domestic violence, sexual assault, and sex trafficking prevention education for schools and the community
  • Coordinate and participate in awareness events at schools and in the community
  • Work with school district administrators and educators to coordinate and conduct prevention programs
  • Assist administrators and educators in creating violence-free campuses, including policy review and development
  • Provide assistance, information and referrals to students and others who have experienced or been exposed to domestic or sexual violence
  • Conduct outreach with other institutions that serve youth
  • Update and provide referral lists of youth resources, services and programs available
  • Develop an informal network with youth-oriented agencies to collaborate on outreach efforts
  • Create evaluations tools to assess program efficacy
  • Collect data for grant reporting purposes
  • Write reports on grant activities provided and assist in the writing of related grants
  • Document and record data according to agency guidelines
  • Attend trainings and conferences required by the funders

 

Other Responsibilities

  • Attend agency all-staff meetings and in-service trainings
  • Attend and actively participate in Prevention & Education Department meetings
  • Assist the Prevention & Education Department as needed
  • Maintain accurate time sheets and other work-related documents according to agency guidelines
  • Successfully complete 69-hour Peer Counselor Training
  • Maintain Peer Counselor Certification on a yearly basis
  • Other job duties as assigned

 

ADA Job Characteristics:

Work environment is primarily in a busy office setting. Local travel may be required in the set-up and/ or attendance of off-site meetings. Continuously perform the following: Lift and carry 25 lbs., extend both arms above the head and/or reach below the waist; stoop, squat, crawl, bend the back to open lower-level filing drawers, or to retrieve stored items; climb a ladder to retrieve items from shelves; climb stairs or use an elevator. Sit frequently and/or or stand when filing, copying, etc. Use fine manipulation (hands and wrist) to operate a keyboard, take notes; utilize desk calculator, file and copy documents. Corrected vision to normal range. Speak in normal vocal tone and range, and communicate clearly and concisely to others. Apply normal to above average reasoning and detail as required in the accomplishment of job duties. Drive a vehicle and run errands as needed.

 

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of two years’ experience, preferably in the field of domestic or sexual violence and/or working with youth
  • Knowledge of domestic violence, sexual assault and sex trafficking
  • Knowledge and demonstrated commitment to the WEAVE mission and values
  • Strong public speaking skills
  • Ability to work with people of diverse ethnic, cultural, religious, socioeconomic, political and sexual orientation
  • Ability to work with school staff, community groups, children/teens and program volunteers in a professional manner
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills, ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Prior experience with community outreach, public speaking and coordination of trainings strongly desired
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and high degree of professionalism
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Valid California Driver’s license, current auto insurance, reliable auto transportation, and satisfactory driving record.
