Commercially Sexually Exploited Children (CSEC) Advocate

Position Summary: The CSEC Advocate is primarily responsible for the trauma-informed case management, emergency response, victim stabilization and advocacy services to youth who are victims as well as identified as high risk for human trafficking.
Essential Functions:
Direct Services
- Screen prospective clients and conduct intakes
- Provide supportive and preventive services and education to youth identified as high risk for human trafficking
- Provides immediate response when necessary to identified victim of human trafficking
- Provides group counseling and advocacy for clients
- Provides trauma-informed case management to human trafficking victims, including but not limited to referrals to supportive services
- Youth Detention Center group education and visits
- Development and implementation of needs assessments and action plans
- Provide emergency transportation and accompaniment services
- Provide crisis intervention, information and referrals
- Provide presentations regarding youth/adult trafficking and other outreach efforts
- Communicate as needed with all those involved with the victim such Child Protective Services, Judicial Professionals and other service providers
- Maintain accurate client records and statistics in a timely, including providing progress reports/assessments monthly to Sacramento County
- Complete face-to-face contact with an identified victim a minimum of 1 time during initial 72 hours of identification then a minimal 1 to 3 times per month or more if necessary to provide emotional support and to ensure immediate primary needs are met(safety, clothing, food and or housing/placement)
- Attend and actively participate in local and regional meetings and trainings related to service provision for trafficking victims
Other Responsibilities
- Attend and participate in agency meetings, staff meetings and in-service trainings
- Complete WEAVE’s 69 hour Peer Counselor Training and attend at least 8 hours of continuing education yearly to stay current
- Develop positive working relationships with other local organizations and agencies
- Maintain a working knowledge of domestic violence, sexual assault, trafficking, and child abuse laws and reporting responsibilities and file abuse reports, as needed
- Maintain accurate and timely timesheets and data records
- Be familiar with legal, medical, housing, educational, employment, and social service agencies and resources in the community which may be of use to clients
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Degree in social services or a related field Preferred. Two years of experience strongly recommended.
- Complete WEAVE’s 69- hour Peer Counselor Training and attend at least 8 hours of continuing education annually to stay current
- Bilingual (Spanish) communication skills strongly preferred
- Crisis intervention, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work well independently and as a reliable team member
- Provide copy of valid California driver license, have reliable transportation, and submit current proof of vehicle insurance
- Consistent demonstration of positive, cooperative, self-motivated, and professional behavior
- Work with individuals with different areas of expertise, knowledge and skill sets
- Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays, as needed
