Campus Violence Prevention Specialist

This full time, non-exempt position reports to the Prevention and Education Manager.  The Campus Violence Prevention Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and facilitating prevention education programs at elementary, middle schools, high schools and colleges.  The position will conduct presentations, trainings and outreach to students and community members from all ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, with the goal of preventing sexual assault, sex trafficking and youth relationship abuse

Responsibilities:

Rape Prevention / Campus Education

  • Facilitate healthy relationships clubs on middle school and high school campuses
  • Coordinate Internships for students on high school and college campuses
  • Provide presentations on sexual assault, healthy vs. unhealthy relationships and sex trafficking prevention education for schools and the community
  • Coordinate and participate in awareness events at schools, colleges and in the community
  • Work with school district administrators and educators to coordinate and conduct prevention programs
  • Conduct outreach with other institutions that serve youth, such as private schools, continuation schools and youth organizations
  • Maintain effective working relationships with local school districts
  • Educate teachers, parents and administrators about consent, sexual assault and healthy vs unhealthy relationships
  • Assist administrators and educators in creating violence-free campuses
  • Update and provide referral lists of youth resources, services and programs available
  • Develop an informal network with youth-oriented agencies to collaborate on outreach efforts
  • Conduct presentations and trainings to members of community-based organizations, churches, parent groups, adult influencers of youth and others
  • Conduct evaluations of the impact of the program presentations through multiple quantitative and qualitative measures given to attendees
  • Attend trainings as required by funder
  • Collect data for grant reporting purposes
  • Document and record data in a timely manner
  • Write reports on grant activities provided; assist in the writing of related grants

 

Advocacy

  • Provide assistance, information and referrals to students and others whose lives have been impacted by teen sexual assault/relationship abuse
  • Follow through on mandated reporting procedures as necessary, including notifying supervisor of any reports filed for suspected child abuse

 

Outreach and Training

  • Interview and train all student interns
  • Assist in facilitation of Weave 101 and Volunteer Orientation
  • Serve as a lead facilitator and presenter of the Peer Counselor Training
  • Assist with outreach efforts in the community, including tabling events and awareness events
  • Facilitate presentations and trainings in the community

 

Other Responsibilities

  • Attend agency all-staff meetings and in-service trainings
  • Attend program meetings
  • Provide back-up coverage for triage and front office
  • Maintain records to document services provided
  • Maintain accurate time sheets and other work related documents.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

ADA Job Characteristics:

  • Work environment is primarily indoors.   Local travel (driving) will be required to conduct presentations at various area schools, attend off-site meetings, etc.  Lift and carry 25 lbs., extend both arms above the head and/or reach below the waist, stoop, squat, crawl, bend the back to open lower-level filing drawers, or to retrieve stored items, climb a ladder or stairs, or use an elevator.  Sit frequently, and/or stand when filing, using copier, etc.  Use fine manipulation (hands and wrist) to operate a keyboard, take notes, utilize desk calculator, file and copy documents.  Corrected vision to normal range.  Speak in normal vocal tone and range, and communicate clearly and concisely to others.  Apply normal reasoning and detail as required in the accomplishment of job duties. 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with minimum of two years’ related experience, 
  • Experience working with youth
  • Public speaking skills
  • Experience working in domestic violence and sexual assault programs
  • Ability to work with people of diverse ethnic, cultural, religious, socioeconomic, political and sexual orientation
  • Ability to work with school staff, community groups, children/teens and program volunteers in a professional manner
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills, ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Complete WEAVE’s 69-hour training and certification program (post-hiring requirement)
  • Provide copy of valid California driver license, have reliable transportation, and submit current proof of vehicle insurance
  • Satisfactory results from DOJ background check and TB Test (post employment offer requirement)
