Was I Sexually Assaulted / Raped?

Sexual assault is not only rape; it is also any unwanted sexual activity. Even if you have said “yes” to sex with the person before, or you are in a relationship, no one has the right to have sex with you or pressure you into doing things you do not want to do. Any time you do not say “yes” to a sex act, it is sexual assault.

Megan's Law

What is "Megan's Law?"

Enacted in 1996, this federal law requires local law enforcement agencies in all 50 states to notify schools, day care centers, and parents about the presence of certain sex offenders in their area. The law was named for seven-year-old Megan Kanka of Hamilton Township, New Jersey. In 1994, she was kidnapped, raped, and murdered, allegedly by a neighbor who was a twice-convicted sex offender.
