For Walkers

Registration is now open!

Our goal is to make registering and fundraising for Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® a painless experience (painless except for the actual walking a mile in high heels part). If you have ANY problems or questions with the registration or fundraising page process, contact Julie Bornhoeft at 916.319.4911 during business hours or email WAM@weaveinc.org. Julie and the WEAVE Team are here to help!

Some helpful tips, hints, and details:

Registration: The registration fee is $35 and requires credit card payment (VISA, MasterCard, AmEx, or Discover). If you would like to register via check, please email WAM@weaveinc.org and request a printable registration form. Please allow 3 business days after your payment has been received for your registration to be active.

What’s Included with Registration? Every walker will receive shoes, race entry, event t-shirt, and goody bag. Every registrant will also gain access to the event festival.

Will my family be able to participate in the festival, too? Yes, all spectators will be able to access the festival area at no charge. For those who would like to enjoy beer/wine at the event, there will be wristbands available for purchase at the event. These will require proof of age so bring photo identification.

Selecting Your Shoe Size: When registering, select the shoe size you wear in men’s shoes. We know that women’s and men’s shoe sizes differ and we will take care of this when ordering. We will also ensure there are extra shoes to allow for race day swapping.

To Fundraise or Not to Fundraise: You do not have to fundraise as part of Walk a Mile in Her Shoes®, but we hope you will. If you choose to not fundraise, simply click the “Participant Only” box directly below your username and password set up during registration.

Fundraising Pages: Every walker who chooses to raise funds for WEAVE will create a personal fundraising page. You must complete the registration process to set up your fundraising page.

Setting Your Fundraising Goal: We recommend a fundraising goal of at least $100. Every man who raises at least $100 will be recognized as a Man of Courage. The first 100 men who register with a fundraising goal of $100 will receive a $25 donation towards your goal compliments of our co-chairs. The $25 credit will be added by early March so watch for this! Every man who committed to being a Man of Courage through WEAVE’s website has been tracked and will receive this fundraising credit.

We know some of you are worried about not reaching your fundraising goal. If you do not reach your goal – that’s ok. There will not be any public shaming and we will NOT charge your credit card for the difference. We are grateful for whatever support you raise on our behalf.

Customizing Your Fundraising Page: The fundraising pages are easy to use and customize. You will have the option of using the existing content or you can personalize your fundraising story, fundraising emails, etc. Simply move your cursor over the area and you will see an “edit” button. Click on the button to open the editing feature and type away.

Your Fundraising Page Photo: You can upload a photo for your fundraising page from your hard drive or a photo sharing site. Check out the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes Facebook page (www.facebook.com/WAMSac) for images from last year and the Kick Off event at Dive Bar. There are additional images from last year on WEAVE’s Flickr page. If you do not wish to upload a personal photo, the event logo will be featured on your fundraising page.

Fundraising Teams: Teams must be comprised of at least two walkers and can have an unlimited number of walkers. The man who creates the fundraising team becomes the team captain by default. The Team Captain can then invite others to join the team. Individuals can opt to join a team after they have registered by logging into their page using the username and password created during registration. If you have any troubles doing this, email WAM@weaveinc.org and our team will help.
