Position Summary: The Special Events & Community Relations Coordinator will be responsible for managing logistics for WEAVE’s two signature events and overseeing the agency’s Community Partnership Events program and coordination of the agency’s marketing and community relations efforts including media relations, social media execution, development of agency materials and serving as Editor for the WEAVE’s community, volunteer, and staff e-newsletters. The position will work closely with agency staff to ensure content, messaging and materials are consistent with WEAVE’s Brand Identity Guidelines.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Special Events Oversee logistics and execution of tasks in support of Feast for WEAVE and Walk a Mile in Her Shoes – including sponsor support, vendor relations, permits, contracting requirements, and volunteer coordination.

  • Coordinates the agency’s Community Partner Events/DIY fundraising program including screening applications, providing event support, coordinating WEAVE representatives and managing donor relationships for event organizers.
  • Responsible for coordination of logistics for other WEAVE events including donor receptions, retail store events, etc.

Development

  • Leads agency’s United Way campaign efforts including representing WEAVE at United Way presentations, coordinating staff representatives to attend United Way presentations, and overseeing annual certification process.
  • Responsible for managing a portfolio of event related donors and ensuring appropriate communications and stewardship. 

Marketing and Community Relations – 40% of Position Focus

  • Executes annual marketing and public relations plan in partnership and at the direction of Director of Development and Marketing and Chief Development & Marketing Officer.
  • Responsible for tracking key metrics to monitor progress towards marketing goals.
  • Develops media relations materials including press releases, press kits, media advisories, and maintains the agency’s media contact lists.
  • Ensures WEAVE materials adhere to Brand Identity Guidelines.
  • Coordinates the production and development of brochures, flyers, fact sheets and other public relations, marketing and awareness materials.
  • Serves as editor of the WEAVE newsletter, volunteer newsletter, and WEAVE Scoop.
  • Responsible for executing monthly content plans for all WEAVE social media channels including targeted campaigns and adaptation of messaging by channel.
  • Responsible for maintaining current and accurate content of the WEAVE  website.
  • Represents WEAVE at community events and through participation in professional networks. 

Other Responsibilities

  • Participates as a member of the Development & Marketing Team to formulate and implement policies and plans to meet the organization’s goals.
  • Participates as a member of the Media Relations Ad Hoc Committee.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • BA degree in marketing, communications or related field and a minimum of two years related experience
  • One year experience (paid or volunteer) working in the nonprofit sector
  • Outstanding computer skills include Microsoft Office Suite, graphic design software, and capacity to learn various online database/project management programs. Knowledge of various social media channels and ability to develop content tailored to different channels, as required
  • Excellent writing and editing skills. Comfortable with web-based content management systems
  • Excellent oral communications skills including  large and small group presentations
  • Ability to organize time effectively and multi-task. Proficiency with office machines, including computers, database systems, and scanners
  • High level of accuracy and organizational skills. Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision
  • Ability to maintain a cooperative, professional demeanor with clients, volunteers, staff and community members.
  • Occasional lifting of boxes up to 25 lbs.
  • Complete WEAVE’s 70 hour Peer Counselor training program (post-hiring requirement).
  • Valid California Driver’s license and reliable transportation, including vehicle insurance.
