Description: This position provides orientation to new shelter clients.  It also provides individual and group counseling, advocacy, case management, information and referrals to shelter residents who are victims of Domestic Violence, and/or Sexual Assault.  Also handles support line phone calls and assists callers with referrals effectively and professionally with individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds, and relates in a supportive, non-judgmental manner maintaining a client-centered approach within agency policies and procedures. Additionally, will be required to effectively use problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to respond quickly to defuse escalated situations when necessary. Must be flexible to work some holidays when normally scheduled, due to 24/7 shelter needs.  This position’s schedule also includes mandatory Staff and In-Service Meetings that may be outside the original schedule. The work schedule TBD.

Qualifications: Ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s in Social Work or Human Services. MFT/MSW is a plus.  1+ year(s) experience in case management is required.  Experience working with culturally diverse clients, and bilingual communication skills highly desired. Willingness and ability to work weekends, holidays and evenings as needed. Candidate must possess a valid driver’s California Driver’s License and reliable transportation, including vehicle insurance. Peer Counseling Training Certification is required or must complete this course upon being hired.
