Part-time Bilingual Support Line Advocate
Part-Time, 20 hours per week, $13.00 per hour

Description: This position will be responsible for answering the Support and Information Line from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm Monday through Friday; attending some staff meetings, and cover the phone lines during other meeting times. The main responsibility of the Support and Information Line Advocates are to assist the callers, assess callers’ need, through phone using active listening skills, crisis intervention tools, establishing rapport and assessing suicidal risks. Must assist the caller with the existing situation, be able to provide peer counseling over the phone and to explore emotional and mental state of mind. Comfortable to search referral book and/or internet to provide appropriate referrals, while caller is on the phone is important. Maintaining appropriate documentation of calls is crucial. Position also will include taking shelter screenings, crisis intervention, clerical duties, and referrals.

Qualifications: Crisis training/advocate experience is required; experience with domestic violence and sexual assault services is preferred. Bilingual/Bicultural Spanish desired due to high business demand. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with crisis intervention, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills. Computer literate in Microsoft Word and proficient in data entry and PC skills. Advocate must have completed WEAVE’s 70-hour classroom training counselor certificate program, and have active certificate.
