Marketing & Community Relations Coordinator

Position Summary: The Marketing & Community Relations Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring execution of WEAVE’s marketing and community relations plans including implementing social media strategy, assisting with media relations, and serving as Editor for the agency’s e-newsletters. The position will work closely with agency staff to develop and disseminate an array of materials and ongoing content that must reflect diverse programs while ensuring consistent messaging, branding and adherence to WEAVE’s Brand Identity Guidelines.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Marketing and Community Relations

  • Provide input to the annual marketing public relations plan in partnership with the Chief Development and Marketing Officer, other department staff and agency leadership
  • Responsible for tracking success metrics for the marketing plan including documentation of key metrics (social media reach, website activity, media relations) and to recommend additional indicators the agency should implement to ensure success towards goals.
  • At direction of agency leadership, develops media relations materials including press releases, press kits, media advisories, etc. and maintains the agency’s media contact lists.
  • At the direction of agency leadership, pursues opportunities for the agency to submit feature articles and participate in stories by regional, statewide and national media.
  • Coordinates logistics for agency media training and ensures Media Policies and Procedures are followed.
  • Reviews materials and products for consistency with Brand Identity Guidelines.
  • At the direction of program leaderships, produces agency marketing and outreach materials including brochures, posters, flyers, fact sheets and other public relations, marketing and awareness materials.
  • Confers with Prevention & Education staff to ensure consistent use of current and original-source statistics.
  • Serves as editor of the WEAVE newsletter, volunteer newsletter, and WEAVE Scoop including acquiring content for various departments, preparing content within online e-newsletter system, identifying target audiences, and ensuring mailing calendar is followed.
  • Responsible executing monthly content plans for all WEAVE social media channels including targeted campaigns and adaptation of messaging by channel.
  • Works in partnership with Director of Retail Operations to execute social media marketing and to engage donors and shoppers of WEAVE’s two retail stores. Responsibilities include preparing customer and donor email newsletters/communications, scheduling posts for social media, coordination with store staff for content, and ensuring content calendar is implemented.
  • Responsible for maintaining current and accurate content of WEAVE website. Works with agency leadership to update content, responsible for ensuring content provided is free of errors, and archiving content as it becomes outdated.
  • Responsible for preparing agency Annual Report in print and digital versions and distribution of report to key partners.
  • Develops infographics and similar graphic materials to communicate WEAVE’s services, events, etc.
  • Works with Director of Community Relations to prepare professional sponsorship materials for all WEAVE events.
  • Represents WEAVE at community events and through participation in professional networks.
  • Responsible for coordinating in-kind donation drives in partnership with Safehouse and  retail stores to obtain needed items and to ensure donors are recognized promptly and appropriately.

Other Responsibilities

  • Participates as a member of the Development & Marketing Team to formulate and implement policies and plans to meet the organization’s goals.
  • Participates as a member of the Media Relations Ad Hoc Committee.
  • Other job duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • BA degree in marketing, communications or related field and a minimum of two years related experience.
  • One year experience (paid or volunteer) working in the nonprofit sector.
  • Outstanding computer skills include Microsoft Suite, graphic design software, and capacity to learn various online database/project management programs.
  • Knowledge of various social media channels and ability to develop content tailored to different channels required.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Comfort with web-based content management systems.
  • Excellent oral communications skills including  large and small group presentations
  • Ability to organize time effectively and work on a variety of projects
  • Proficiency with office machines, including computers, graphic design software, web-based programs (design, project management, etc.), copiers and scanners
  • High level of accuracy, organizational skills, and ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain a cooperative, professional demeanor with clients, donors, volunteers, staff and community members.
  • Occasional lifting of boxes up to 25 lbs.
  • Complete WEAVE’s peer counselor training program (post-hiring requirement).
  • Valid California Driver’s license and reliable transportation, including vehicle insurance.
