In the last year alone, 197 women and 168 children sought confidential shelter at WEAVE's Safehouse and 75 of these women and children call Elk Grove home. Many other victims from Elk Grove do not require use of WEAVE’s Safehouse but do choose to leave the violent relationship and find a new home.
In both situations, these families face the daunting task of establishing a new household which can be an expensive and overwhelming undertaking. WEAVE and Leadership Elk Grove created a Housewarming Kits Program to help women and families from Elk Grove get back on their feet as a result of domestic violence.
Because of the generosity of our community, WEAVE has received contributions of new kitchen, bathroom and bedroom items to create housewarming kits. As a result over 12 families received the resources to establish a new life free from violence. WEAVE is pleased to continue to work with the Leadership Elk Grove program to support Elk Grove families starting a life free of violence and has extended this program to support all families leaving the Safehouse for their new lives.
