Position Summary:This full-time, exempt position reports to the Director of Development & Marketing.  The Individual Giving Manager provides oversight and leadership for the agency’s annual giving donors, major donors, and planned giving efforts. Key responsibilities of the position will include implementation of a comprehensive donor acquisition effort including interfacing with direct marketing consultants, ensuring the donor acquisition and renewal schedule is followed and managing major donor renewals. The position will also manage development of planned giving information, scheduling of donor informational workshops, and coordinating donor stewardship events and activities. The position will manage a personal portfolio of mid-level and major donors as well as ensure the portfolios of other staff and board members are maintained and up to date. The ideal candidate will have four to six years’ experience in overseeing individual donor programs including donor acquisition efforts.

Primary Responsibilities:

Annual Fund Management:

  • Develops, implements and monitors annual fundraising strategies with an emphasis on building integrated, donor-centered approaches.
  • Oversees processing of all donations and maintenance and integrity of donor data.
  • Establishes and monitors annual strategies to identify mid-level donors with propensity for increased giving and works with team members to create donor-specific strategies for cultivation and stewardship.
  • Creates and manages agency’s internet fundraising efforts and online donor cultivation and stewardship.
  • Creates and implements strategies to grow the base of donors and to increase the level and frequency of giving.
  • Generates monthly fundraising progress reports; tracks and analyzes key growth metrics.
  • Ensures established quality standards for donor services and stewardship are met.
  • Responsible for ensuring accuracy of donor records and database.
  • Responsible for ensuring maintenance of database and ongoing training of staff.
  • Oversees management of workplace giving campaigns including presence at presentations, managing trends in giving, and annual certification process.
  • Supervises contracts with vendors and consultants as required.

Major and Planned Giving:

  • Develops and implements strategies to meet and major donor revenue goals and grow income on an annual basis through donor upgrades and new donor acquisition.
  • Works with team members to develop an annual campaign for major gifts, create donor benefits that strengthen relationships, attract new donors and increase support from current donors.
  • Provides support and direction to the D&M team efforts to work with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to identify potential new major gift prospects and cultivate current donors.
  • Manages a portfolio of major and planned giving donors and prospects.
  • Cultivates and carries out solicitation strategies for prospective and current major donors.
  • Works with Executive Director, Board of Directors, and Leadership Team to identify capital/special projects for targeted fundraising campaigns.
  • Provides leadership for implementing a planned giving marketing plan to promote planned giving opportunities to donors and planned giving professionals including coordination of donor information events, presence of planned giving information at WEAVE events, and distributing information to donors indicating interest in providing a planned gift to WEAVE.

Corporate and Foundation Relations:

  • In partnership with Director of Development & Marketing, ensures corporate and foundation donor information is maintained in the database and commitments are met.

Special Events & Community Partner Events:

  • Provides support of special and community event efforts during key times.
  • Responsible for ensuring event revenues are accurately recorded in the database and contributions are acknowledged.

Board Relations:

  • Maintains current documentation of board fundraising engagement which tracks personal donations, corporate support, event participation and key relationships with donors and funders.

Marketing:

  • Responsible for ensuring materials prepared for donor acquisition and engagement efforts follow agency’s brand identity guidelines and present a consistent image of the organization.

Employee Management and Supervision:

  • Recruits, trains, supervises and mentors development staff, volunteers and interns. 
  • Supervises Development Assistant.
  • Establishes performance goals and objectives, monitors performance, and initiates feedback for employees.
  • Conducts performance reviews, writes and presents performance improvement plans.
  • Communicates management’s position, organization information, and work changes to employees and carries out company policies and practices as delegated.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field and four to six years’ experience with a proven track record of raising funds via multiple annual giving methods.
  • Successful management and supervisory experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • High ethics, initiative, and creativity.
  • Effective presentation and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure while modeling professionalism to staff and volunteers.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with the community and others, including a culturally diverse general public, regulatory agencies, special interest groups, internal and external customers, and volunteers.
  • Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) membership a plus.
  • Ability to lift supplies up to 25 lbs up to waist height.
  • Possess a valid California Driver’s License, reliable transportation, and proof of current auto insurance.
  • Be willing to complete WEAVE’s Peer Counseling Certification Training Course. 
  • Ability to work occasional nights and weekends.
