Position Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Response Services Manager, the Human Trafficking Caseworker is responsible for providing case management and counseling services to adult and minor domestic victims of human trafficking in accordance with the expectations of the CalOES Human Trafficking Victim Assistance Program.

Responsibilities:

Direct Services

  • Screen prospective clients and conduct intakes
  • Assess legal needs of victims and secure appointment with appropriate staff attorney
  • Provides case management to human trafficking victims that address legal needs, emergency shelter, temporary housing, emergency food and clothing, advocating for victim in accessing other community services, and approving payment for emergency expense.
  • Development and implementation of needs assessments and action plans specific to the immediate and long term reintegration needs of each victim.
  • Provide emergency transportation and accompaniment services
  • Provide crisis intervention, information and referrals
  • Providing presentations on agency services for human trafficking victims.
  • Maintain accurate client records and complete data entry and progress notes in a timely manner
  • Maintain close communication with other project staff including Caseworkers employed by My Sister’s House and Counselor employed by Wind Youth Services.
  • Attend and actively participate in local and regional meetings and trainings related to service provision for trafficking victims

Qualifications:

  • Master of Social Work
  • Minimum of one year experience working with victims of human trafficking.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) communication skills strongly preferred
  • Crisis intervention, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well independently and as a reliable team member
  • Provide copy of valid California driver license, have reliable transportation, and submit                             current proof of vehicle insurance
  • Consistent demonstration of positive, cooperative, self-motivated, and professional behavior
  • Work with individuals with different areas of expertise, knowledge and skill sets
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays, as needed
