32-40/hrs. a week. Combination of day and evening hours.

Position Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Counseling Services Manager and Director Of Counseling and Outreach, the Counselor will provide direct services to children and adults at the Safehouse, WEAVE Counseling Center and at selected sites.

Responsibilities:                                                                                                

Direct Client Services:

  • Provide individual and group counseling for children/youth/adults.
  • Maintain accurate and complete client files. Identify, assess and report cases of suspected child abuse/neglect to Child Protective Services.
  • Advocate for the concerns of clients with their support systems, schools, the legal system, social service agencies and other helping professionals.
  • Foster problem-solving, conflict resolution and non-violent interactive skills among parents and children

Other Responsibilities:

  • Attend and participate in agency meetings and committees, as assigned.
  • Maintain accurate timesheets and other work-related documents.
  • Represent the agency in community speaking engagements and networking opportunities, as assigned.
  • Other job duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree, MFT or MSW, with current registration
  • Minimum of two years counseling experience working with children, youth and adults of various ages and backgrounds
  • Experience working with domestic violence and sexual assault preferred
  • Play/art therapy experience preferred
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Bilingual/bicultural individual preferred
  • Complete WEAVE’s 70-hour classroom training and peer counselor certification program (post-hiring requirement)
  • Provide copy of valid California driver license, have reliable transportation, and submit current proof of vehicle insurance
  • Satisfactory results from DOJ background check (post-employment offer requirement)
