On-Call Safehouse Advocate
$15.00/hr., Guaranteed 20 hours a week

Description: This On-call position provides orientation, counseling, advocacy, information and referrals to shelter residents who are victims of Domestic Violence, and/or Sexual assault.  Also handles support and information phone lines and assist callers with referrals.  Must be flexible to work some holidays and overnight shifts, due to 24/7 shelter needs.  This position will train by shadowing different shifts, so that proper and adequate skills can be obtained when covering regular staff’s vacation, leaves, or other coverage Safehouse needs arise.

Qualifications: Ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s in Social Work or Human Services. MFT/MSW is a plus.  1+ year(s) experience in case management is required.  Experience working with culturally diverse clients, and bilingual communication skills highly desired. Willingness and ability to work weekends, holidays and evenings as needed. Candidate must possess a valid driver’s California Driver’s License and reliable transportation, including vehicle insurance. Peer Counseling Training Certification is required or must complete this course upon being hired.
