Position Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Counseling Services Manager, the Bilingual Counselor will provide direct services to Spanish and English adults and/or children at the WEAVE Counseling Center and at selected sites, based on Company needs.

Responsibilities:                

Direct Client Services

  • Provide individual and group counseling and play/art therapy for children/youth
  • Maintain accurate and complete client files
  • Conduct parent education group
  • Identify, assess and report cases of suspected child abuse/neglect to Child Protective Services
  • Advocate for the concerns of children with their parents, schools, the legal system, social service agencies and other helping professionals
  • Foster problem-solving, conflict resolution and non-violent interactive skills among parents and children

 Other Responsibilities

  • Attend and participate in agency meetings and committees, as assigned
  • Weekly crisis line shift
  • Maintain accurate timesheets and other work-related documents
  • Represent the agency in community speaking engagements and networking opportunities, as assigned
  • Other job duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Master degree, MFT, or MSW or Bachelor’s degree and two years related experience or AA and three years related experience or five years related experience
  • Minimum of two years counseling experience working with children of various ages and backgrounds.  Play/Art therapy experience preferred
  • Experience with counseling children and adults preferred
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team member
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Bilingual/bicultural individual preferred
  • Complete WEAVE’s 70-hour classroom training and counselor certification program (post-hiring requirement)
  • Provide copy of valid California driver license, have reliable transportation, and submit current proof of vehicle insurance
  • Satisfactory results from DOJ background check and TB Test (post employment offer requirement)
