The Mary Kay Foundation, in partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, has selected WEAVE’s Safehouse as one of four locations throughout the nation for a fully funded Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom. The classroom will heal children who have been traumatized by domestic violence. Children who call the Safehouse home each year will begin to heal by connecting to nature through climbing, building, a greenhouse, and lush plantings. Studies show that children who engage with nature experience less stress, better concentration, more creativity, and higher self esteem, thereby countering the effects of trauma.
