Whether a couple is same-sex or opposite-sex, many dynamics of abuse are the same. An abusive relationship is fueled by the desire of the abuser to have control over their partner. The abuser uses different types of abuse, including: physical, sexual, emotional, financial, and spiritual. Here are some concerns that are particular to the LGBTQ community:

Partner Violence is abuse between intimate partners, where one partner is using different types of abuse (i.e., physical, emotional) to gain power and control over his or her partner.
